Welcome to Rice University VSA

WELCOME TO CLW!

The College Leadership Workshop is an annual event hosted by Rice Vietnamese Student Association designed to empower high school students with the knowledge and support to apply to college. The event is led by student volunteers from universities in Houston who are eager to share their insights on college life, academics, and the admissions process. Our goal is to help high school students in the application process no matter where they want to attend college.

The event will consist of a series of workshops covering a variety of topics: from tackling essays and extracurricular activities, to applying for financial aid and choosing the right college. Submit your essays for the opportunity to receive feedback from college students! We will provide a glimpse of Rice college life and dispel some common myths and fears about college. Additionally, we have a special guest coming to be our Keynote Speaker to give advice and inspiration to the students.

CLW will be especially helpful for parents and students of all backgrounds, as there will be a diverse cohort of college students available to answer any questions. As this event is hosted by Rice Vietnamese Student Association, there will also be Vietnamese-speaking college students available to answer any questions for native Vietnamese speakers.

Students and parents are encouraged to register. We will provide breakfast, lunch, and all workshop materials. Students will also receive a CLW T-shirt!

Registration has closed for CLW 2023

Check-in

Check-in and breakfast will be at the picnic bench area between George R. Brown Hall and Keck Hall. If you were to put this on Google or Apple Maps, it would be “Valhalla.” It is marked on the map in purple. This will be from 8:00 a.m to 9:00 a.m. Please arrive on time, as there will be no volunteers at the check-in area after 9:00 a.m. Students will be receiving their small group assignments, as well as their T-Shirts. Only students will be receiving shirts.

Parking

All-day parking will be at Greenbriar Lot (see blue area below) and will cost $3.00 via card (cash is not accepted). Please only use Greenbriar Lot as there will be CLW volunteers (wearing black CLW shirts) stationed there to guide you.

Drop-off

If you are a parent dropping off a student, please follow the orange routes outlined in the map. You may enter through 1, 2, 3, or 23. Along the road near check-in, you will see CLW volunteers stationed at our drop-off station. You may find directions via Maps by searching “Valhalla Rice.”
